Drilling For Emotional Wellness - Setting Up Your Platform

What is the first step towards turning a blocking emotional system into a flowing system? The first thing you need to put in place is a drilling platform.

A drilling platform offers a stable place in a world of chaos you can return to again and again.

Your Emotional Energy Drilling Platform

Your emotional drilling platform is an artificial structure set up temporarily only during the energy release process. Once it has achieved its purpose your platform can be dismantled or left to operate unmanned by itself until the next time you need to use it deliberately.

Nothing in life can guarantee total emotional freedom at all times. I may see myself as a bit of an 'expert' in removing such things as obsessions, phobias and panic attacks - but I am only in this position because I learned how to set my healing platforms up. I still get new emotional issues - I just know now how to get rid of them quickly because I have developed the understanding and skills set.

Prior to this I was a complete emotional wreck inside. People would say they could not believe how calm I was in some external situations where others were very emotional. Truth was, compared to how I felt inside, these external situations were barely noticeable. Now I get the best of both worlds.

Before we take a look at setting up a new emotional drilling platform, consider those platforms already successfully operating in your life.

What platforms have you already got set up?

Do you go to work? If you go to work in any organisation the way in which that organisation is set up is a 'platform'. Multiple staff working together to mine something of value that leads to something else of value. You all get together and you drill. How much would you get done working alone?

Have you ever had a conflict situation at work that made you feel bad - did you get together and sort it out and then feel better? You drilled the situation and released the energy using the platforms designed to sort out such disputes. Was there a meeting, or an informal discussion or something in writing? What did they release? What did they drill for?

Do you go shopping? If you go shopping your own shopping platform may consist of your transport arrangements; your shopping bags; shopping trolleys at the store; the contents of your purse or wallet and a grocery list. All those staff at the shops you go to are working together in multiple platforms to support you in operating yours.

Where do you go that makes you feel good? Do you read books or watch television for pleasure? Do you set aside a specific physical place, create a certain atmosphere and devise a specific time slot? Experiential Platforms. Eat dinner off a plate sitting on a table and cook the meal on a cooker? Platforms.

Your life is unconsciously full of platforms involving support from different people and tools applying different types of knowledge to resolve what would otherwise create multiple stressful issues.

All these things are important, right? All these things are of value to you? So why do we all, nearly every one of us, have so much trouble when it comes to creating a platform to drill down for the most important thing anyone can have in their lives?

A happy you.

Buried under all that energetic gunk there is you, and the real you deserves to be let out. Your emotional release platform needs a place, a time and proper staffing just like all the other platforms in your life do.

Place

In order to drill for emotional energy effectively you need a safe place for an extended period of time. This safe place could have somebody else there, as long as they are acting as your Guardian and not your Judge, Jury and Executioner. They should be there to help undo those aspects of your own negative self-talk - not to reinforce them.

Most of the time though, you will probably be alone when you do this work. Drilling for emotional energy needs to be very focused and by its very nature tends to be focusing - especially if you get an emotional gusher.

There is a real risk if you are in untrained company you will take your mood out on others - or they will notice and ask you about it. There is also a risk of certain places being dangerous to you - such as when crossing roads if you are not paying attention to traffic.

So I recommend either a private room with no distractions (and nothing in it with moving parts) or, for short periods, time spent with a trusted Guardian figure.

Staffing

Drilling for emotional energy needs the support of different people at different times. There are physical, mental and long-term planning issues, including concerns about affects on the environment, when you set up such a drilling platform.

Releasing emotional energy affects your physical body. You have to make sure what you experience is both normal and is not masking illness not related to intense emotional release.

Doctor

During emotional release things like stomach acid balance; heart palpitations; sweating; nightmares and the 'mammalian freeze response' - also known as 'disassociation', may take place. Got a good doctor? Make them a part of your platform team - you will need them to speak to whenever you hit a physical situation.

Include here the possibility of a Psychiatrist - just a note: psychiatrists are medicinal professionals; their job is to prescribe medicine. Your doctor will refer you to a psychiatrist if you wish them to and your psychiatrist will offer you medicinal support as well as giving you the opportunity to talk. There will be room for negotiation here so do not think you should just do as you are told when it comes to medication.

I discussed my healing strategy with my psychiatrist and he agreed to keep me on the lowest level of Prozac - after a year I no longer required it (I am not sure I required it at all, to be honest, but I wanted the option).

Psychiatrists are used to people turning up on their door with no plan whatsoever, but if you have a plan they will listen to it and support you.

Something that surprised me at first was when I described my plan my psychiatrist would agree what I was saying was correct - but would not give me the whole plan! This is most likely because they are trained not to. As I say, they are medicinal practitioners. They will probably refer you for counselling - and your counsellor is someone you can really start to develop your plan with. You do not need to wait, however, until your psychiatrist or doctor refers you for counselling before getting yourself a counsellor.

Counsellor

There are several types of counsellor - a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist will help change negative thoughts to positive thoughts; a Person-Centred Counsellor will assist you in assisting yourself while at the same time offering a very light form of challenge (this kind of counselling is flexible to your needs); an Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) practitioner will help you release intense emotional charge gently; a Neuro-llinguistic Programmer (NLP) works with mental modelling.

All and any of these types of counsellors are effective in their own way. You should speak to your doctor and psychiatrist about which type they recommend but also do a bit of your own research as well. Pick one, stick with that counsellor for a time and then speak to that counsellor as to whether or not you both feel they are the right type to assist you in your drilling for emotional wellness.

Your Board of Governors

Most platforms operate using a 'Board of Governors'. A governor is any source of advice called upon to help shape the nature of the development of an organisation.

We can take on and let go of our governors as we see fit and some governors may only serve the needs of our drilling platform for a short period of time - others become semi-permanent. The only permanent member of your staffing team is you.

Your governors can be helpful real-life friends (I do not mean critical friends with agendas they want you to stick to - I mean people who value YOUR experience and agenda) or other advice sources.

They may be well-known authors - I remember going through a couple of years regarding Dr Claire Weekes, the panic attack expert, as my main 'governor'.

Governors are useful not only for drilling down to release intense emotional energy - they are helpful in maintaining emotional happiness once it has been achieved.

You

The main member of staff you will need on your drilling platform is you. If you do not turn up to take lead of the operation drilling for your emotional energy release cannot take place. You could be the one member of drilling staff you have most trouble getting to show up.

You have to value yourself enough to be willing to carry out the drilling process in a safe place without distraction - this means being 'selfish'. It means turning up to do the work without whining about how inconvenient the process is. When you get frustrated at the process; the way in which your organic emotional system works, what you are really saying is 'I do not value myself much'. You do not think you deserve the time emotional release takes.

Staffing your platform with a doctor, a psychiatrist, a counsellor and a Board of Governors really starts to reinforce the idea you are an important person in your own right.

Part of the reason we become emotionally unwell is we have spent far too much time valuing the platforms being operated by other people. We love to help them drill for their ideas; their viewpoints; their wants - even to the point we adopt them when they work directly against our own emotional well-being.

Setting up your own platform to drill for emotional release may be the first time you have ever considered you have something in there of value to drill for.

You might consider me as someone you want to add to your emotional Board of Governors - come and have a chat at http://www.managemesystems.com or mail me at carl@managemesystems.com.

Offshore Drilling Rig Jobs - How to Find Work on Offshore Drilling Platforms

Offshore drilling rig jobs pay well. Even last year, in 2009, when the economy was its worst (of the recession), the price of oil did not drop below $60 per barrel. Now, as the economy is recovering from the recession, the price of oil is heading back up. This, of course, is due to fundamentals. Demand for oil remains strong because the developing countries, especially India and China, are still forging ahead with their industrial programs. Their economies are still growing, their citizens are becoming more prosperous and demanding more luxuries. All of these are things which need oil for energy. Obviously, this is good news for you if you are looking for jobs on offshore drilling platforms.

Getting work with an offshore drilling contractor is not exactly rocket science. It mainly requires persistence and guts. The more job applications you send out, the more interviews you will be called for, the greater your chances of getting hired. Of course, the big question is how do you find all those offshore drilling job vacancies?

The most basic methods that everyone uses are - register with a recruitment agency in the oil industry; look on job boards like Monster, Yahoo Jobs, Career Builder and Hot Jobs; and look at newspaper job advertisements. These are not bad methods, it is just that by the time the job vacancies meander their way through the bureaucracies of the Human Resources department, it may already be filled by those with insider contacts.

That brings up an important question - how do you find an offshore drilling rig job before it appears in an advertisement? The simplest way is to look for all the small offshore drilling contractors who do the work for the large offshore drilling companies like Halliburton, Schlumberger, Transocean, etc. Most of these small oil service companies tend to cluster around two types of places - the headquarters of the larger companies that subcontract to them; and around the area where the offshore oil rigs are located (in the US, these would be the Gulf Coast states of Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas).

Basically speaking, if you are not staying in one of these places, you are at a disadvantage when looking for a job on an oil platform. If you live there, then you have access to many more resources, including local newspapers where jobs are advertised; the bars, diners and eating spots where the hiring managers and HR of these small oil companies have their lunch and dinner; and last but not least the local phone directories.

Let's look at these one by one. Job ads in the papers are not a particularly good way to look for a vacancy, especially for a national daily. Ads in such newspapers are very expensive and a small company is not likely to use them. However, ads in small local (town and state) papers are cheaper and more likely to be used.

The next method is to hang around all those diners, bars and eating spots where the staff of the small oil rig companies spend their time out of the office. Why? Because people talk. Co-workers go for lunch together. When they are busy, they work overtime and go for dinner together. They talk to each other at mealtimes. They complain, they gossip, they flap their lips and wag their tongues. When they do not have enough people to drill for oil, they will talk and you will hear of it if you keep your ears open. Yes, it is rude to eavesdrop on other people's conversations. But so what? Who cares if it gets you a job?

The last method, using the local phone directories, needs guts. You will need to look up the addresses and phone numbers of the small oil firms. This is also a good way to find out which diners to eat your lunches at, i.e. go to the diners and restaurants near the offices of these companies. Anyway, getting back to the phone book - once you have the phone numbers of the companies, call them up to enquire about oil drilling job vacancies. Some of them will just hang up on you. Many will say "No" in one form or another, sometimes rudely, sometimes politely. You will hear a lot of rejections, and it takes guts to continue on despite everything. But the most important point is this - if there is a vacancy open, you will be one of the first to find it, possibly even before it gets advertised.

These are the three secrets of how you find offshore drilling rig jobs before they are advertised. Unfortunately, you need to be on location to use these methods. This often means that you need to move. Just remember this - sometimes oil companies in one part of the state will be firing workers just as companies in another part of the same state are hiring new workers. If you spend a few months in one place and all you hear is news of doom and gloom, move to a new place. Move until you find someplace that is booming.

When The World Goes To War

A war is possibly the last thing anybody would want to live to experience. The world has already been a witness to several wars. As students, we have studied different wars and how the people during those times have lived. War times are definitely not good times.

Recently, different parts in the world have gone to war. We see different war footages on television and notice how the number of casualties exponentially rises up. Although almost everybody realize that there are no victors in wars, we can’t seem to totally eliminate the prospect of having to go to war.

Somebody famous once said, if we want peace, we have to prepare for war. But as mere civilians, we don’t have that much power to largely make a difference during war times. The most we could probably do is to prepare ourselves, if in case war breaks out suddenly.

Just like in preparing for natural calamities, we need to stock as much food and water as possible. Equally important are pieces of cloth that we could use to cover our mouth and nose, and sunglasses for our eyes as protection against dust particles brought about by bombings and the like.

On a larger scale, the government planning to involve in a war should have prepared emergency underground facilities. These facilities would contain grain silos and medical stockpiles. Civilians and injured soldiers are usually housed in one of these underground facilities.

Large cities in the United States have several underground centers that they could use during war emergency situations. Examples of these are the underground facilities near major railroads.

Aside from gun and ammo, the government should also equip themselves with machineries such as truck transportable bridges, mobile refineries, mobile decontamination services, and water purification systems. Other amenities such as petroleum supply are especially reserved for times of war.

Of course, the government will have to organize effective cooperation between its different civil services. The police, healthcare service, fire service and other public utility providers are expected to work together to ensure that civilians get as much protection as possible. Sometimes, able bodies might be requested to undergo special training programs to help protect the rest of the civilians.

War is such a large scale event that as individuals and small communities, we could only do so much. Most of the preparations involved are left to the national government and international security institutions. As citizens, we will be left with no choice but to follow where the government leads us in times of war. Collective effort is very important for survival.

Probably the most effective way of preparing for war is to disseminate information effectively and rapidly. Information on self-protection should be disseminated to the public. Concerned international authorities will alof high technology, which greatly affects how the world goes to war, preparing for war is getting more and more complicated. We already have nuclear, chemical and biological weapons which can wipe out a continent within a few minutes. High walled palaces made of stone which used to protect early civilizations from war are not enough anymore with the severity of the damage which these weapons can cause.

because so be able to benefit from information sharing. A large pool of information resources will be helpful for both parties, and would allow them to hopefully come into an agreement even before war could eventually break out.

Leatherman Multi-Tools Get The Best Reviews

Leatherman and beltholder, photo taken in SwedenImage via Wikipedia

Leatherman multi-tools get the best reviews

Multi-tools combine pliers or scissors with at least one knife blade and a few other useful tools such as screwdrivers -- and fold up compactly between uses. A full screwdriver or pair of pliers will always be easier to use, but a multi-tool give you a way to carry lots of functionality in a small package for quick everyday tasks.
Although it's tempting to look for a multi-tool with everything, reviewers warn about two drawbacks. The more tools inserted into a handle, the harder it can be to get out the one you really want. The second issue is that the more tools you load onto a multi-tool, the heavier it becomes. A multi-tool that weighs half a pound is fine for a glove compartment, but not much fun to carry around all of the time.

Smallest, lightest multi-tools

What To Look For
  • Consider which tools you use most.
  • Look for blades and tools that lock open.
  • How easy is it to access each tool?
For carrying with you all the time, in pocket or on a keychain, Leatherman multi-tools get mostly positive reviews (Leatherman is certainly the best-known brand). We saw more positive feedback about the Leatherman Micra (*Est. $20) than about any other multi-tool. The tiny Micra includes scissors, tweezers, a nail file and a small blade -- plus three screwdrivers (including a tiny one for eyeglasses). The scissors are the main tool you get when you unfold the Leatherman Micra, and in general, Leatherman scissors earn high marks for sharp cutting.
Owners also like the fact that the tweezers on the Micra are built in, so they can't get lost. You do have to unfold the Micra to get to the knife blade or other tools. Then when you fold the handles again, you have a very smooth, secure handle. Larger Leatherman keychain multi-tools let you open the knife blade (and lock it into place) without unfolding the handles.
If miniature pliers are more important to you than scissors, the Leatherman Squirt PS4 (*Est. $25) unfolds to show pliers where the Micra has scissors. A tiny pair of scissors unfolds from the Squirt's handle, but there are no tweezers. For wiring repairs, the Squirt ES4 (*Est. $25) has more appropriate tools. At Amazon.com, about 85 percent of the owners say they're very satisfied with a Leatherman Squirt; complaints center on the scissors and some trouble getting the bottle opener out, though we also saw some reports that say that the scissors work very well.
These keychain multi-tools have one short knife blade, 1.6 inches long, and are light, less than 2 ounces total. The two Squirt multi-tools come in red, black and blue; the Micra adds green, gray and stainless steel for a total of six color choices. Like all Leatherman multi-tools, they carry a 25-year warranty.
If powerful scissors, a toothpick and a sheath are more important to you than a Phillips screwdriver, the SOG Crosscut CC51 (*Est. $15) keychain multi-tool provides all three. The scissors have compound leverage, and that has positives and negatives compared to the Micra. Owners comparing the two at the Multitool.org forum note that the Crosscut multi-tool makes short work of opening plastic clamshell packaging, but that paper can get hung up on the compound gears. Both tools are about the same weight and length, but reviews note that the Crosscut is thicker. Overall, feedback indicates that the Micra is a more useful all-around tool.

More tools equal a larger size

Stepping up in size, we also found some good comments for the Leatherman Skeletool (*Est. $45) and the Skeletool CX (*Est. $65), which has a carbon fiber handle. These multi-tools weigh about five ounces each, with knife blades that are about 2.6 inches. The main compromise compared to heavier multi-tools is in the strength of the pliers, which are thin to save weight. We found complaints about pliers breaking under very little stress. Still, reviews praise both Skeletool models for their nicely contoured, comfortable shape plus the easy access to all the tools -- no nail-breaking attempts to pull out a tool wedged into a handle. The knife opens one-handed, and the carabiner doubles as a bottle opener.
The main difference between the two Skeletool multi-tools is the stainless steel used for the knife blade. The Skeletool CX has a plain blade that's easier to sharpen than the partially serrated blade on the regular Skeletool. Also, the blade on the CX is made of 154CM stainless steel, which reports say holds an edge better than the 420HC steel used in the regular Skeletool.
The Skeletool multi-tools also have a universal bit holder in the end of one handle. This is a mixed blessing: it's easily accessible and you can use any standard bit -- but it's possible for a bit to fall out if the bit driver spring isn't just right. We found quite a few complaints about faulty bit holders, a nuisance even though such a defective tool would be replaced by Leatherman under warranty. Owners also report that the contoured handle makes using the screwdriver a bit awkward.
If utility and versatility are more important than portability, the Leatherman Charge TTi (*Est. $90) has four blades that are accessible without unfolding the pliers: a regular knife, serrated knife, saw and file. All the tools built into this model lock into place, and the total weight for 19 tools is 8.2 ounces -- heavy enough that the Charge TTi multi-tool is most appropriate for a glove compartment, tool box, desk drawer or tool belt. The Charge TTi comes with a removable belt clip as well as a sheath that has extra pockets to hold more screwdriver bits or a mini-flashlight.
Unlike the Skeletool discussed above, the Charge TTi folds the universal bit holder into the handle, so the bit can't fall out. The Charge TTi comes with eight driver bits, including a Torx bit, and you can also buy extra bits. The blade is 2.9 inches long and is made of S30V stainless steel.
The Swiss Tool Spirit (*Est. $85) might also be worth considering, and it earns kudos for tools that are easy to open -- all from the outside when folded -- and lock into place. The main negatives in user reviews surround the knife -- it takes two hands to open and is mostly serrated, with a blunt end like a butter knife. Also, some reviewers lament the lack of ruler. A kit of extra driver bits is available, but they mount on a completely separate little tool, not the Spirit multi-tool itself.

Expert & User Review Sources

We found the comparison review of multi-tools at Popular Mechanics helpful because it covers three major brands, even though tests here cover only five of the many multi-tools on the market. The nonprofit Multi-Tool Museum site also provides a good comparison review, and we also found some useful comparisons atCrunchgear.comHandymanClub.com, and MultitoolGuide.com. We found expert single-product tests at Wired,Backpacker and Outside magazine magazines. Amazon.com publishes the most owner-written reviews of multi-tools, but reviews at REI.comBackcountry.comKnifeCenter.com and Walmart.com are also helpful.YouTube.com provides loads of video demonstrations and reviews of multi-tools -- helpful once you've narrowed your choice to two or three models.
