Endeavour to buy Marcellus shale properties
A unit of Endeavour International Corp., Houston, will buy Marcellus shale assets in north-central Pennsylvania from SM Energy Co. for $80 million.
BP reports pipeline leak in Alaska’s Lisburne field
BP Exploration Alaska reported a spill of methanol and produced fluids at the Lisburne oil field on July 16. About 50-100 bbl of a methanol/produced fluid blend was spilled onto a gravel pad and a freshwater tundra pond, according to the company’s initial estimates.
Eliminating all safety exemptions could backfire, states warn
Eliminating all government agency exemptions as a condition for states to remain eligible for federal one-call and damage prevention grants would do more harm than good, a state pipeline regulator warned a US House Energy and Power Committee subcommittee on July 15.
US drilling shows healthy increase

Talisman Niugini Pty. Ltd. has spud the Siphon-1 exploratory well on a wet gas prospect on PPL 269 in Papua New Guinea.
Poland: Second horizontal shale gas well spuds
3Legs Resources PLC has spudded Warblino LE-1H, its fourth well seeking shale gas in Poland and the country’s second horizontal well to be drilled for shale gas.
Ohio: East Canton field named CO2 candidate
Between 76 million and 279 million bbl of additional oil could be recovered from East Canton oil field in eastern Ohio by carbon dioxide flooding, said a state geological survey report.
Oklahoma Springer play yields 60 bcf gas well
The Buffalo Creek 1-17 well in Beckham County, Okla., has produced more than 60 bcf of gas since being turned to sales in December 2002, one of only six wells in the state to have yielded that much gas, said Chesapeake Energy Corp., Oklahoma City.
