House committee passes bill to promote NPR-A access
The US House Natural Resources Committee approved legislation aimed at removing bureaucratic obstacles and improving access to oil and gas within the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska by 28 to 14 votes on July 13.
ExxonMobil starts plan for Silvertip oil line replacement
ExxonMobil Pipeline Co. has begun preliminary work toward replacing the damaged segments of its 69-mile, 12-in. OD Silvertip crude pipeline, which ruptured July 1 and leaked 750-1,000 bbl of oil into the Yellowstone River in Montana.
ConocoPhillips to split into upstream, downstream companies
ConocoPhillips plans to separate its upstream and downstream businesses into two stand-alone, publicly traded corporations via a tax-free spinoff of the refining and marketing business to ConocoPhillips shareholders.
MARKET WATCH: Hint of more economic stimulus boosts energy prices
Energy prices continued climbing July 13, with crude posting a small gain in the New York market on a weaker dollar after Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke indicated an additional monetary stimulus may be in the works.
Maverick Georgetown completion attempt set

Malaysia: Lundin spuds Miocene prospect off Sabah
Lundin Petroleum AB has spud an exploratory well on the Cempulut prospect on Block SB303 off Sabah, Malaysia.
Mongolia: Vibroseis 2D survey to cover two blocks
A second seismic survey is starting on the Zuunbayan-XIV and Tsagaan Els-XIII blocks in Mongolia, said Manas Petroleum Corp., Baar, Switzerland.
Turkmenistan: Third Cheleken rig reactivated
Dragon Oil PLC has refitted the previously stacked Rig 40 and resumed drilling on the Dzheitune (Lam) 13 platform in the Caspian Sea off Turkmenistan.
ConocoPhillips eyes Canning shale prospects
A ConocoPhillips unit has signed a nonbinding heads of agreement with New Standard Energy Ltd., Perth, for an exclusive negotiating period that could lead to joint exploration of NSE’s Goldwyer shale project in the Canning basin onshore Western Australia.
IEA: Refinery investments set for 2012 rebound
Following a slowdown in refining capacity investments this year, next year will see a slew of refinery projects completed, the International Energy Agency said in its latest monthly oil market report.
