OD line intended to bring North Slope gas south for consumption by Alaskans, and calling on the legislature to considers its proposals promptly. | Alyeska releases TAPS low-flow impact study Alyeska Pipeline Service Co.’s ‘Low Flow Impact Study’ of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System warns of potential operations and safety issues if flow rate on the line drops below 350,000 b/d. TAPS, completed in 1977, transported 2 million b/d at its peak. It currently carries 650,000 b/d of oil from Alaska’s North Slope to Valdez, from where it is shipped to US West coast refineries. | MEPS launches binding open season Marcellus Ethane Pipeline System (MEPS) is holding a 30-day open season to secure binding commitments from potential shippers for ethane transportation service from fractionation plants in the Marcellus shale to interconnect points with third party ethane pipelines or storage facilities along the Gulf Coast. | Meritage Midstream expands South Texas gathering line Meritage Midstream Services LLC, Golden, Colo., plans to build a rich-gas gathering system, the Cuervo Creek Pipeline, in Webb County, Tex. The 60-mile, 16 in. OD system will traverse more than 1,300 sq miles of gas prospects from Encinal south to Laredo, including the Eagle Ford shale, and will include multiple downstream interconnects. The Cuervo Creek line will have an initial capacity of 150 MMcfd and is expected to enter service in this year’s fourth quarter. | Tesoro to move Bakken crude oil via rail Tesoro Corp. plans to transport crude oil via a dedicated unit train from the Bakken shale formation in North Dakota to its 120,000-b/cd refinery in Anacortes, Wash. Once permits are received, construction of unloading terminals at the refinery could take a year to complete. | DTE Energy unit to build Marcellus gathering system Bluestone Gathering plans to build and operate a natural gas gathering system in Susquehanna County, Pa., and Broome County, NY. | EPA: Threat gone of more leaked oil from failed Silvertip line The threat of secondary releases from the ruptured portion of the Silvertip crude oil pipeline belonging to ExxonMobil Pipeline Co. has been eliminated, federal officials announced in Billings, Mont., following a July 1 pipeline break that resulted in an oil spill in the Yellowstone River. | INGAA outlines pipeline safety action plan The Interstate Natural Gas Association of America outlined a detailed action plan to achieve pipeline safety goals, including a commitment to expand pipeline integrity management principles to all onshore gas transmission systems belonging to its members. | CPC begins $5.4 billion pipeline expansion Chevron Neftegaz reported that the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) has started the construction phase of the $5.4 billion expansion of the Caspian pipeline. | | | |
